Britney is the World's Worst Dog OwnerBritney Spears regained her previous crown of being the star most googled on the internet this year but, as usual, the results were often as not for making a spectacle of herself, and CNN’s Showbiz Tonight has now named her “Most Controversial Celebrity of the Year” for 2006.

She had tough competition from Mel Gibson, Michael Richards (Kramer from Seinfeld), and , but who stood a chance against someone who could score in so many diverse ways as Britney? Social Services came around to check on her parenting after her infant son supposedly fell out of his high chair, and drove with her infant son in her lap; she posed nude for the cover of Harper’s Bazaar while pregnant, filed for divorce just weeks after giving birth to Jayden James, had the police called while she was partying with Paris Hilton, danced with no pants in a nightclub, then famously wore no panties as paparrazzi snapped countless photos of her private parts as she got out of a car.

So, Britney gains one more ‘title’ partly based on her controversial parenting skills, adding to her prior title as World’s Worst Dog Owner according to a three-month online poll by readers of The New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines. Magazine editor Hilary O’Hagan said, “Britney was the overwhelming choice. She once had three Chihuahuas and never left home without at least one of them on her arm. As soon as she met Kevin Federline and had kids they (the dogs) disappeared.”
