Jessica SimpsonJessica Simpson, 26, who is back in the charts with a new album, in cinemas with a new film “Employee of the Month”, and has a range of beauty products in shops, is overexposed, according to Encino, Calif.-based E-Poll Market Research, which ranks more than 2,800 celebrities on 46 different personality attributes. In September 2003, Jess had an Overexposed Score of a mere 17%. Fast-forward past Lachey, Dukes of Hazard and ‘Pizza Hut’ poppers to the summer of 2006, where the ex-’Newlywed’ comes in at a whopping 41%, which puts her at the top of the enough list. (The average for most celebrities at the peak of their careers is between 3-7 percent.) During that same period, Jess’s “talented” score dropped from 36 percent to a disappointing 28 percent.

You can catch Jessica Simpson’s song stylings on her new album, “A Public Affair”. Jessica SimpsonOr you can find her at the newsstand is currently on the cover of Allure, but she’s certain to be on the front of US Weekly, People or Star sometime soon. You can also buy her new line of “Hair U Wear” wigs. Or her “Dessert Beauty” line of edible “bath and body” treats. Her second film, “Employee of the Month,”grossed just $11.4 million in its opening weekend, good for No. 4. And while her first film - last year’s remake of The Dukes of Hazzard - drew a reasonable $US80 million ($107m) at theatres, it’s unclear that she’ll ever be able to play anyone other than Jessica Simpson.

Her current album, “A Public Affair,” has sold 212,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s a far cry from the 2.9 million copies sold of 2003’s “In This Skin.” Her ex, Nick Lachey, is doing better with his album, “What’s Left of Me,” which has moved 540,000 copies. Her newest album is the fifth she has recorded for Sony BMG but she can’t draw much of a crowd in concert.

Simpson claims singing comes naturally to her, but acting is another story saying: “I never thought I would see myself on the big screen. “I talked to Sheryl and I told her that her song, ‘Are You Strong Enough To Be My Man?’, was my song!’ “And she goes, ‘Honey, that’s mine too. Next time I sing it, we’ll do it together and I’ll have you come up on stage with me!.”  Jess added: “As a woman who has some sort of power, you have to have a man that can take that. It’s hard to find those men.” Jessica and Sheryl became friends after discovering they both had the same taste in break-up music and Sheryl Crow helped get her through her divorce from Nick Lachey.

In other news Jessica Simpson reveals she was mortified when she screen-tested for a two parts in the big screen re-make of the classic TV show Dallas and didn’t get either one of them.
Media reports claimed the star was in line to land the role of sexy Lucy Ewing, but the Dukes Of Hazzard star failed to impress film-makers with her acting skills.
‘Employee of the Month’  trailers affirm one rumor: You WILL see Jessica Simpson’s unearthly cleavage many times, revealed.

Other stars the public would supposedly like to see less of include Tom Cruise, Anna Nicole Smith and both Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline. “It’s a challenge because celebrity in many ways is defined by how much exposure you get,” explains Robert Thompson, the founding director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University. He also said that celebrities had to tread a fine line between courting the spotlight and knowing when to retreat. “But the perfect equation is to get as much exposure as you possibly can right up to the moment when it gets to be too much, and then you want to pull back.”
