Kate Moss engaged, possibly pregnant

British supermodel Kate Moss and Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty have publicly announced their engagement at the Moet & Chandon masked ball in Twickenham, south-west London on Tuesday.
“We are engaged,” said Kate, and “We are getting married” Pete added.
Moss was beautiful in a gold dress given by her best friend, designer Stella McCartney, and a gold mask as she flashed the antique diamond engagement ring she had been spotted wearing in Florence, Italy, last week. Kate, had tried to hide the sparkler when she arrived back Heathrow airport, covering it up with her sleeve.
“Kate looked amazing as usual but even Pete looked really well-dressed for once, with black sequins adorning one eye (which some say was to cover a real black eye received in a scuffle in Rome). “They had their arms round each other all night and made a very handsome couple. As they made their way around the room you could hear Kate saying “Would you like to see my ring?” again and again”, according to Britain’s Daily Express.
Meanwhile, Pete’s uncle has claimed the 32-year-old catwalk queen is pregnant.
Phil Michels told Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I have spoken to Pete twice about the baby and he has confirmed that Kate is pregnant. They are both delighted and Pete sounded really excited. Pete told me they want a baby to cement their marriage.”
No announcement of the wedding date as yet, but speculation is that the ceremony may take place at Christmas or on Kate’s birthday on Jan. 16. Reportedly they plan to tie the knot in a civil service at Marylebone Register Office in London as Beatle Paul McCartney married Linda there in 1969. Liam Gallagher of Oasis and actress Patsy Kensit also wed at Marylebone Register Office in 1997. But, there is another rumor that they will wed in Ibiza during a birthday vacation.
Kate, 32, has a 4-year-old daughter, Lila Grace, whose father is her ex-boyfriend, fashion magazine publisher Jefferson Hack. Discovered in 1988 in the JFK Airport in New York City at the age of 14 by Corinne Day, founder of Storm Model Agency, her debut was a series of black and white photographs for “The Face” magazine when she was 15. Moss then went on to become something of an anti-supermodel of the 90s in contrast to the supermodels at the time, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, starring in a major campaign for Calvin Klein, including posing nude in ads for its perfume brand, Obsession. She is emblematic of the dangerous “heroin chic” look.
Her career had a major dip after London’s Daily Mirror ran front page photos showing Moss snorting cocaine at a Babyshambles recording session in 2005. Moss lost major modeling contracts with several international companies but has made a comeback in the year since. Today Kate Moss makes more money than before the scandal. Her 2006 earnings add up to £30 million.
As with her career, the couple’s love life has also seen a dip - Kate dumped Doherty for a while after he checked himself out of Meadows Clinic in Arizona, failing to complete a drug rehab program. Moss herself underwent successful treatment there in October and had urged Doherty to seek the same treatment himself. Doherty claims that their separation involved other issues, telling the The Sun newspaper that Moss left him because, “I can’t buy her diamonds and my dick is too small.”
Kate has now reportedly given Pete, 27, a list of six rules, called ‘Kate’s Commandments’, which he must obey. She insists the junkie rocker must stop doing drugs, end contact with his ‘loser’ friends and call her at least three times a day. He must also stop flirting with his groupies if he wants to make Kate his bride, start eating properly and spend two hours every day writing poetry and music.
A source said: “Pete is prone to going AWOL. Kate has warned Pete that if he doesn’t comply, their relationship is off.”
