Macau was the venue for the Miss Asia 2006 pageant on October 29th, where several contestants unexpectedly showed more than they had planned.  In the end, 16-year-old Daryna Shevchenko, Miss Kazakhstan, won the show, as well as winning two special awards; Miss Eloquence & Grace, and Miss Perfect Figure.
Daryna was slammed by the hot favourite contestant, Miss China, as not deserving her win.  Dong Yue, 22, accused the teen of having an affair with one of the judges, and winning through connections. ‘This is a big joke. What does she have? I really don’t know what they (the judges) saw in her’, she said to reporters backstage.
But Ms Schevchenko flatly denied the charge and said that she was not going to let the spite dampen her joy. Daryna is the youngest-ever winner of the pageant, carrying away cash and prizes worth more than HK$2 million ($400,000).
‘The rest of them were too competitive. I won simply because I wasn’t under any pressure’, she said.

The evening gown segment and the swimsuit segment each had contestants accidentally exposing more than they had intended – Mika Iwasaki, 22, Miss Japan, accidentally exposed herself during the swimsuit segment, but was luckily protected by body tape – and other girls had mishaps during the evening gown segment when they had to parade around with dogs.  MingPao Daily reported that because the contestants were trying to control the dogs, many of them showed more than they intended to, including Miss Korea, Jeong Ju Ri, 22, whose gown fell open after she stood up from playing with her dog.

Miss Taiwan, Bella Chen squatted in her evening gown with her 36-D assets very prominently on display, and blew kisses to the crowd. Nicknamed ‘Taiwan’s Pamela Anderson’, Miss Chen’s assets were the subject of rumor, as her another pageant in 2004 showed her to be only a 32-C.  According to Apple Daily, Miss Chen retorted that she had topped up her assets the natural way – through acupuncture.
