Two days after Donald Trump gave Tara Conner a second chance, and said that he believes everyone deserves a second chance, he declined any second chance to Katie Rees, Miss Nevada 2007. Unlike Tara Conner, Ms Rees’ sins were graphic and inescapable - photos of her baring her bottom and her breasts, simulating oral sex with a male and females, and kissing other women, were posted to the website Canada.com. However, also unlike the sins of Tara Conner, those of Katie Rees occurred years ago, and long before she held any title.
“Katie Rees has been relieved of her duties as Miss Nevada USA 2007,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, which owns the Miss USA pageant and others. Pageant officials declined to provide a telephone number for Rees and said they didn’t know when the photos of her were taken. Shugart made the decision to jettison Rees, but pageant co-owner Donald Trump supported it, said Miss Universe Organization spokeswoman Lark-Marie Anton. Shugart said first runner-up Helen Salas will assume the title and compete at the next Miss USA pageant on March 23 in Los Angeles.
In a statement sent to the entertainment TV show “Extra,” an attorney for Rees says:
“Katie Rees — Miss Nevada USA wants the public to know she was 17 and had a lapse in judgment … the actions on that evening in subject are in no way indicative of the person she is or the person she has become … she is a law-abiding citizen and talented adult. This was an isolated incident that occurred more than five years ago when she was a minor.”

Earlier this month, Rees was the guest of honour at a Special Olympics bowling tournament and last month attended an event for underprivileged children. Rees has appeared as Miss Nevada USA at charity events such as the Goodie Two Shoe Giveaway, at which underprivileged students received free shoes, backpacks and school supplies.
Updated 22 Dec 2006:
Miss “hot” Nevada, Katie Rees is issuing a correction on the statement released by her attorney yesterday regarding some photos that were published of her on the internet which stated that she was 17 years old when the photos were taken. Splashnews reported, Miss Rees’ actual age when the aforementioned photos were taken was 19. Miss Rees acknowledges her misbehavior as captured in the photos.
Katie Rees: “Over the past couple of days I have seen and heard numerous reports and I feel it is necessary to address the public with the facts. Simply put, these images were from an isolated incident during my teenage years prior to my consideration to compete for Miss Nevada. While I take full responsibility for the photographs, I want everyone to know the truth. This was by no means representative of who I was, who I am, or who I will become.
I have no intentions to disgrace the state of Nevada, the Miss Universe Organization, or Mr. Donald Trump. Nonetheless, I feel I have been unfairly treated and I am being judged without due process.
I challenge those individuals to look back on their pasts and not find something they did to humiliate themselves or that they deeply regret especially during their teenage years. I am very embarrassed by the situation. Regardless, such a brief and distant lapse in judgment does not warrant my loss of the title I worked so hard to achieve.
I want to thank my family, true friends, and God, who have already forgiven me. I can only hope that the public will be as kind.”
