I am fine…It was an amazing experience, Sanjaya told host Ryan Seacrest.
I can promise you: We won’t soon forget you, Seacrest replied.
That was a conversation between Sanjaya and Ryan upon learning that American had voted off Sanjaya from American Idol Season 6 competition. His goofy charm failed to carry him through Wednesday night. When the result was announced, Malakar wiped away tears and got a big hug from LaKisha Jones, the next lowest vote-getter. Then he performed one last song, “Something To Talk About. Putting his own twist on the song, the 17-year-old known for his pretty looks and ever-changing hairstyles ad-libbed: Lets give them something to talk about … other than hair.

On Tuesday night’s show, when Sanjaya strutted on to center stage and belted out Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About, it quickly became fairly obvious to all that country music wasn’t his thing. Simon Cowell had slammed his performance as utterly horrendous. And, for once, the notoriously mean judge was vindicated. I’m beginning to sense something here, a grinning Cowell said when Sanjaya wound up in the bottom three. Sanjaya was one of the most controversial contestants as well as one of the most watched.
The first minutes of Wednesday’s program were devoted to defending Cowell against charges that he had rolled his eyes the previous evening during Chris Richardson’s tribute to the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre. In fact, Simon had been yammering irritably to Paula about Richardson’s nasal singing style.
Six contestants are now left: Jones, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey.
Am gonna miss the handsome young Indian-Italian guy, Sanjaya.
