The eldest daughter of French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, Marie de Villepin, has been chosen as the new model for the latest Givenchy perfume “Angel or Demon.” The 20-years-old blonde girl who has a stage name, Marie Steiss, had been selected to represent an “oriental floral scent of strange sensuality” because of her “dual identity”. “She perfectly matches the concept of ‘Angel or Demon’, an oriental floral perfume of a sensual strangeness,” said Givenchy spokeperson. The advertisement displays a picture of Marie next to the slogan “ange ou d’mon elle seule le sait” (angel or demon only she knows).
“In New York I am Marie Steiss. Nobody knows my real name. I did not want to suffer or even worse, to benefit from privileges linked to my family name. I want to succeed by myself.” said the very soft blonde hair with blue eyes, Marie de Villepin. She said that her parents had tried to dissuade her from becoming a model but left her free to make her own choices and trusted and supported her. Arthur de Villepin, her younger brother, has worked as a model as well. She also has a younger sister named Victoire de Villepin.
Marie also tried her hand at acting, with small roles in the French series “Les Rois Maudits” (2005), based on the novel by Maurice Druon; the film “Fauteils d’Orchestre” by Dani’le Thompson and her debut as a child actress in “La ‘che”, by the same producer in 1999. She posed for the French edition of Elle magazine in September 2005 and has appeared on the catwalk for Diane Von Furstenberg.
Marie, who is is taking night classes in “international politics” and studying to be an actress, keeps her willowy figure by eating lots of sushi and salad and drinking little but carrot juice. According to L’Express, another French magazine, it is difficult not to notice her close resemblance to the prime minister.
“The father is everywhere, in the broad forehead, the immense, almost animal mouth . . . and in her grandiose declarations about the miseries and beauties of the world,” it said. Sometimes she gets sent to do modelling jobs in Paris and stays with the other girls in a hotel instead of joining her parents in the prime minister’s Matignon Palace. She enjoys dancing and skateboarding and, like her father, admits to a fondness for poetry. The new perfume will reportedly be more expensive than Givenchy’s last with Liv Tyler, Very Irresistible. Regular Price for the Givenchy Very Irresistible 1.7 oz spray is $53.00.
