The Oscar-winning actress, Nicole Kidman, 39, has been in a car accident during filming her latest Hollywood movie “The Invasion.” As seen in paparazzi footage, Miss Kidman was being dragged in a Jaguar by a camera rig. The rig took one of those slippery movie corners a little too hard and that was not in the script. The Jaguar went right into a lamp post. Miss Kidman and a young boy, believed to be a stunt person, were taken to the hospital. Los Angeles Police spokeswoman, Karen Smith, said seven other people on the set of the alien thriller “The Invasion” went to local hospitals complaining of injuries after the 1 a.m. crash but that none was seriously hurt. She could not confirm a report by Us Weekly magazine that Kidman’s car was being towed by a rig at about 45 miles per hour, with zombie-like characters hanging off the hood, at the time of the crash.

Miss Kidman spent two hours being checked over in Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, and her agents said that Kidman is back to work after Friday’s crash. The actress was being comforted by her husband, country crooner Keith Urban, who had been on the set with Kidman’s son, Connor, before the accident. It was only two days ago that Urban told the world how his wife had supported him through three months of rehab for alcohol abuse.

“No other actors were involved in the scene at the time of the incident. Two additional crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. The production took the appropriate steps following the incident to ensure the safety of cast and crew,” Warner Bros. said in a written statement. Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind “The Invasion”, confirmed that Nicole Kidman was taken to the hospital after the crash but said she was quickly released and would be back on set when filming resumed later on Thursday.

The Invasion is the highest paid role of Kidman’s career, with her $21.8 million pay cheque making her Hollywood’s highest-paid actress, leapfrogging Julia Roberts. In her sci-fi film, co-starring new James Bond Daniel Craig and produced by Joel Silver, Kidman plays a Washington DC psychiatrist who discovers an epidemic sweeping the world has an extraterrestrial origin. Her son becomes infected forcing her to find a cure.
