Paris Hilton Begins Jail SentenceParis Hilton, 26, in a judgment related to violating probation on a drunk / reckless driving case, has checked into the Los Angeles County Jail two days earlier than expected and began her jail term. Accompanied by her mother, her younger sister Nicky, and her attorney Richard Hutton. Paris beat the mandated deadline to appear, and if she behaves well should serve perhaps 23 days of a 45-day sentence behind bars.

According to the booking sheet, Hilton (9818783) has blonde hair, green eyes, stands 5′8″ tall and weighs in at 115 pounds. While in jail, Hilton will be in solitary confinement 23 hours each day. During her free hour, she will be allowed to shower, make phone calls and watch television.

Hilton had spent part of her Sunday afternoon at the MTV Movie Awards before pulling a fast one on the public-at-large by surrendering early to start her jail term. She said, “I’m ready to face my sentence. Even though this is a really hard time, I have my family, my friends and my fans to support me, and that’s really helpful.”

“Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence,” Hilton said earlier in a statement.

“During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes. This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make,” said Hilton.

The county women’s jail in the Los Angeles suburb of Lynwood, some 25 kilometres from her mansion in the Hollywood foothills. All-female facility is actually a pretty tough one as far as woman’s facilities go. However, Hilton will be housed in the “special needs” section of the prison that is reserved for, well, special needs prisoners such as celebrity-types, police officers, and any other high profile types that could be singled out because of such status, and face particular danger in the general population of the prison.

In a statement, Hilton said, “I did have a choice to go to a pay jail, but I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I’m not and that’s why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I’m going to be treated like everyone else. I’m going to do the time, I’m going to do it the right way.”

The L.A. sheriff is determined to keep cameras away from her after tabloids offered up to $500,000 for a single shot of Paris Hilton in that orange jumpsuit
